The Patient Snail 耐心的蜗牛
A little snail wanted to climb up the tall and winding hillside to enjoy the wide view on the top. Rabbits hopped quickly past it, and little birds flew high over its head. They all laughed at its extremely slow speed and told it it could never reach the top before sunset. But the snail never felt sad or gave up its dream. It moved forward step by step without stopping, even when it felt tired. The sun moved slowly across the sky, and time passed bit by bit. When the sun went down and painted the sky orange, it finally reached the top of the hillside. It stood there quietly and enjoyed the wonderful golden sunset view, the same beautiful view that those fast‑running animals could see.

It got completely lost in the strange woods. It felt very afraid and flew here and there in great confusion. It could not find the way home no matter how hard it tried. Luckily, a kind hard‑working bee was collecting flower honey nearby. The bee told the worried butterfly to follow the sweet smell of flowers. The butterfly flew along the soft warm wind and kept following the sweet scent in the air. It passed green bushes and small wild trees. At last it returned safely to its home among the blooming flowers.

It tried its best to hide itself deep under piles of dry leaves, hoping it could stay safe without facing any bad weather. The other little acorn chose to stay in the open soil. It never ran around, it never made loud exciting noise, and nothing special seemed to happen around it. But whenever people felt tired and thirsty after hard work, they would walk to this old well. It turned gently and kept moving toward the distant lower land. It never kept all its clean water for itself. It gave freely to everything around it. Flowers drank its water and bloomed beautifully. Grass grew thick and green. Animals got enough fresh water to live happily. It slowly understood that true happiness comes from sharing with the world around you.
